About Athens Barn Center

How do I get a price?

Every in-stock building on our lot shows its exact cash price and real monthly payment right on the site — no forms, no waiting. For a custom build, use the 3D designer and the price updates as you choose size, style, colors and options. You can also call (423) 746-8900 and a real person will price it with you.

What are my payment options?

Pay cash, finance (from about $85/mo, with terms up to 10 years on steel), or go rent-to-own with no credit check. Financing usually costs less over the life of the building than rent-to-own, and we'll show you both side by side before you decide. Nothing is charged until delivery is scheduled.

Do you really deliver and set up for free?

Yes — delivery and setup are free within 50 miles of our Athens office for both sheds and steel buildings. Beyond 50 miles it's just $5 per mile over, and we'll tell you the exact amount up front. Call with your address and we'll confirm.

How fast can I get my building?

In-stock buildings on our lots are ready in days, and custom builds and all-steel buildings take a few weeks depending on the product. See the current lead times above for the latest by category.

Can I come see the buildings in person?

Absolutely. We have three lots — Athens, Madisonville and Decatur — with 150+ buildings you can walk through. Hours and addresses are at the bottom of every page. If you see it on our in-stock page, it's on the lot and ready.

What areas do you serve?

We're based in Athens, Tennessee and serve East Tennessee from our three lots in Athens, Madisonville and Decatur. Steel buildings can be installed across a much wider region through Eagle Carports.

What's the difference between a portable building and an all-steel building?

Portable buildings from Backyard Outfitters — wood-sided and metal-sided sheds, cabins, utility and lofted barns, garages and more — are built at the factory and delivered to your lot or address whole, ready to use. All-steel buildings from Eagle Carports are erected and installed on-site on your prepared level pad (dirt, gravel or concrete).

Backyard Outfitters

Are the portable buildings delivered fully built?

Yes. Wood-sided and metal-sided portable buildings arrive fully assembled and set on your site — no kit to build. Where a site can't be reached by truck and trailer, Build-On-Site service is available in select areas for an additional charge.

Do I need to prep the site or pour a pad?

No pad is required. Buildings are set level on included wood shims or on concrete blocks. Your site should be reasonably level (within about 3 inches) and reachable by a truck and trailer. We don't grade ground or pour foundations, so arrange any site work before delivery.

Do the doors come with locks?

Yes — every door comes with an installed lock. Replacement keys and locks can be ordered if you ever need them.

Can you finish the inside — electrical, plumbing, insulation or drywall?

No. The buildings are portable structures, not finished living space, so we don't do interior electrical, plumbing, insulation or drywall. Hire a licensed contractor for those, and note that unapproved modifications can affect the warranty.

Do you offer a military discount?

Yes. Backyard Outfitters offers a military discount on new building purchases with a valid military ID matching the buyer's name. Ask us when you order.

What if my property is fenced or hard to reach?

Let us know before you buy if your site is fenced, sloped or otherwise hard to reach by truck and trailer. In many cases Build-On-Site service can handle inaccessible locations for an additional charge.

How does ordering a steel building work?

Design it in the 3D builder or with us — carport, garage, barn, RV cover, combo or commercial clear-span. Your quote comes straight to our team, we confirm the details and site prep, then it's built at the nearest Eagle Carports factory and installed by their crew.

How do I prepare my site for a steel building?

Call 811 to mark utilities, level the lot to within about 3 inches, and clear roughly 3 feet of working space around the footprint. If you're setting it on concrete, the pad should be about 2 inches wider than the building on each side. Unlevel or unprepared sites can add charges or a return-trip fee.

Which roof style should I choose?

Three options: regular (lowest cost, rounded corners), A-frame horizontal (house-style look), and vertical (panels run top-to-eave so rain and snow slide straight off). We recommend vertical roof for anything you're keeping long-term in East Tennessee weather — and it's required on buildings longer than about 36 feet.

How is payment handled on a steel building?

For steel, payment is typically due on delivery — the scheduling team walks you through it beforehand. We also offer financing up to 10 years, and site-prep or concrete can often be rolled into one payment.
